In the past art epochs brought among other things the Renaissance particularly elaborately decorated and very colorful and precious pieces of jewelry. Especially in the late Renaissance around 1600 at the transition to the Baroque, the so-called "fear of the open space" also prevailed in decorative decor, i.e. as many decor details as possible were distributed in the smallest space and the tiniest gaps were also - mostly colored enamelled – Filled with ornaments. The magnificently designed pendants or robe brooches from this period can be mentioned as an example. There the virtuoso mastery of the goldsmiths of the time is evident. Our own "Renaissance Ring" is intended to commemorate this artistically demanding epoch of jewelry production.
Our Renaissance ring was made largely on the basis of a historical model made of 925/- silver and then colored in several work steps enamelled. The finest enamel powder is washed out with pure water, applied to the ring with a tiny brush in previously milled indentations and then melted at around 700 to 850 degrees in the enamelling furnace before the next layer of enamel powder can be applied and fired again. Finally, all enamelled surfaces are smoothed with special diamond files before the ring receives its final polish.
As a special highlight of our Renaissance rings, however, the rock crystal in the tip of the ring, which is set in a prong setting, must be mentioned. It was cut by hand especially for these rings and gives these Renaissance rings their typical look of the time. The pyramid-shaped cut of diamonds (used at the time) in finger rings was very popular, especially during the Renaissance.
We initially based our ring on the classic Renaissance color combination of red-white-blue-green. We then varied this color combination for other versions of this ring.
In addition to rock crystal pyramids, we also had an aquamarine and an almandine cut by hand especially for this purpose.
