We currently have particularly extensive experience in the field of medieval handicrafts.
In addition to the quality of the gemstones and pearls, our customers also decide, of course, whether the object "only" has a galvanic gilding in copper or brass, completely in precious metal (in gold and/or silver) or even with an "built-in" one and more and more in the future progressive patination (artificial aging) should be implemented - depending on the focus of the exhibition or personal wishes.
The production of replicas that are as true to the original as possible is usually preceded by extensive research in the specialist literature and in the museum collections. The materials used at that time, the current state of preservation, the historical production steps and the possibilities of replicating a convincing patina are examined.
We also have our own library with over 1000 volumes on the subjects of art, art history, applied arts, jewelery and antiques as well as exhibition and auction catalogues.
Before any order is placed, we condense and provide this research and the specifications of the customer into a detailed documentation of the planned technical implementation to support your decision-making process.
It is precisely the mixture of the often unorthodox approach of a passionate autodidact with almost two decades of solid "half-knowledge" and the technical precision of a trained goldsmith with very many years of professional experience that often enables us to find completely unexpected and therefore all the more elegant solutions for certain technical problems.
For example, during the production of the replica of the Parousia cross from the cathedral treasury in Münster, we almost "accidentally" developed a particularly stable process for galvanic real gold plating.
And we still have a lot planned: Among other things, we are planning a replica of the so-called "Essen Child's Crown of Emperor Otto III.", a replica of the so-called "Talisman of Charlemagne" from the Palais du Tau in Reims, a copy of the orb of the saint Roman Empire in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and a large number of new magnificent book covers.
