It opened on November 14, 2019 State Museum of Prehistory in Halle (Saale) a remarkable one special entitled: "Rings of Power".
In this exhibition, selected rings from earlier eras (finger rings, arm rings, neck rings and other jewelery rings) as well as other objects that fit the context of the exhibition are presented in their primary function and meaning as well as in their historical and thematic context.
A few weeks earlier, we also received an official invitation to the exhibition opening. The reason was our close cooperation with the Friends of the Landesmuseum Halle as the operator of the museum shop, in order to offer true-to-original replicas of the so-called “Ring of Paußnitz” in the museum shop on site in Halle and in the State Museum online shop to market. The “Magic Ring of Paussnitz“ is an important find from the Saxony-Anhalt region and the focus of the new special exhibition. And our jewelry factory was finally able to win the public tender for the production of the replicas of this extraordinary ring.
We were only too happy to accept the invitation to this opening evening. So we got the wonderful opportunity to finally get to know some of the employees of the State Museum for Prehistory in Halle who were involved in the preparatory work for the new ring replicas.
To our great surprise, one of the curators of the new special exhibition “Rings of Power”, Ms Susanne Kimmig-Völkner MA, joined us for our preliminary visit to the director and staff of the museum shop in Halle.
Our astonishment was even greater, however, when Ms. Kimmig-Völkner spontaneously offered us an exclusive tour of the exhibition, which had just been completed, despite the fact that the official opening of the exhibition was only a few hours away.
Such an opportunity usually only arises extremely rarely, which is why we accepted the spontaneous invitation from Ms. Kimmig-Völkner and our central contact person at the museum, Ms. Stefanie Nagel with enthusiasm. We received a lot of exciting and highly interesting information about the exhibition concept and the objects on display first-hand and from the most competent source imaginable. Once again, many thanks to the two ladies for this unforgettable experience!
The exhibition opening event that followed in the evening was chaired by the State Archaeologist of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and Director of the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and Archeology (State Museum of Prehistory), Mr Prof. Dr. Harold Meller introduced with a greeting. Afterwards, however, the Minister for Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, Mr Rainer Robra did not miss the opportunity to wish the new exhibition every success. In addition to all the curators, several representatives of the state government were also present, as well as Mr. Röhrer-Ertl, who was responsible for deciphering the inscription on the “Magic Ring of Paußnitz”.
The presentation of the “Magic Ring of Paußnitz”, whose faithful replicas we produce in six different ring sizes in 925/- silver for the museum shop and which is the central exhibition object of the “Rings of Power”, is staged in a truly spectacular way: Above the stele-like display case with the original ring there is a three-dimensional, huge enlargement of the ring and its magical inscription:
The most spectacular object – alongside the so-called “Bronze Hand of Preles” and a seven-kilogram torque (neck ring) called the “Silver Ring of Trichtingen” – was the original “Ring of Paussnitz” which was presented in the centre of the exhibition architecture in a specially created display case and was surrounded by the numerous visitors to the exhibition opening shortly after the exhibition began:
Our replicas of the "Magic Ring of Paußnitz" will also be presented in the best possible light in the museum shop of the State Museum in Halle - parallel to the special exhibition and then permanently. Our replicas of the ring will now be presented at the center of the museum shop's other jewelry offerings and offered to museum visitors for purchase:
We wish the entire team of the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle, whose commitment and passion can be seen in every detail of this spectacular special exhibition, a lot of success and at least as spectacular visitor numbers.
And we hope that our replicas of the “magic ring of Paußnitz” will be a big seller in the museum shop of the Landesmuseum Halle. The fact that we received our first repeat order just one day after the exhibition opened and on the way back from Halle is certainly a good omen… 😉
