A fibula brooch with Japanese enamel

Brooch in the shape of a disc fibula

With this brooch in the form of a medieval disc brooch, we now have another exciting alternative to the more complex brooches, which are usually hand-cut because of the almandine. With this brooch, the individual almandine plates have been replaced by a particularly valuable enamel that shimmers enchantingly transparently.

The effect of this enamel, fired and polished by hand by us, is simply breathtaking: In direct light, the enamel looks with its typical crackle like almandine-red gems. Fabulous.

We will certainly not be able to win a photo competition with the following picture (anyone who has ever tried to photograph gold in full sunshine will certainly have a glimmer of sympathy for us), but it shows the fine transparency and the strong almandine red of this extraordinary enamel very well nice:

It's not that easy to find suppliers for this particularly fine enamel these days. In any case, according to our research, only one company in Japan is currently able to produce this gemstone-like enamel of this quality. Unfortunately, its procurement is correspondingly complex.

But the effort is definitely worth it: we are able to offer primer variants with alternative and cheaper materials, but still in the usual museum quality.

So you can expect some more of these exciting primers from us shortly...
