Since October 14.10.2019th, XNUMX, after stops in The Hague and Bonn, our gemstone book cover is now in the Het Valkhof Museum in Nijmegen (Nijmegen, Netherlands). It will be on display there until May 2020 as part of the exhibition “Middeleeuws Vernuft”.
The museum had invited us as official lenders to the opening vernissage. We were only too happy to accept this invitation.
The vernissage ended with a speech by the director of Museum Het Valkhof, Mrs Hedwig Saam opened in front of the invited guests.
The vernissage was very well attended. Some guests even had to make do with standing room. But thanks to the relaxed atmosphere and the professional brevity of the official speeches, it was easy to master.
After the official part, you could either attend a small theater performance about the Middle Ages, enjoy the delicacies provided in the museum cafe or visit the newly opened Middle Ages exhibition.
Our book was exhibited as part of a presentation of everyday life in the monastery. You could get to know the different areas of a monastery interactively or immerse yourself in the secrets of medieval illumination.
The exhibition pavilion on the theme of the monastery was heavily frequented by visitors to the vernissage shortly after the opening of the exhibition.
As always, we really enjoyed watching the visitors as they our gemstone book cover scrutinize closely.
In the end, the successful afternoon and the many interesting conversations with visitors and exhibition organizers and our entire stay in the extremely exciting city of Nijmegen will certainly remain in very pleasant memory.
In any case, we are already looking forward to being able to visit the exhibition in other cities from 2020. At the moment, at least two other major museums in Germany have a very serious interest in including the entire exhibition in their program.
So it remains exciting for our gemstone book cover...
