Six (out of seven) friends from all over Europe took their annual meeting as an opportunity, this time a joint one goldsmith course to visit me on the Vogelsberg. The participants from London, Barcelona, Hamburg, Bavaria and other parts of Germany met together at my place to spend an entertaining and happy course Saturday in my studio.
The friends have known each other since their time together in Barcelona, where they met and liked each other in the city's children's playgrounds. Since then, the seven friends have formed a close-knit community, which keeps renewing their close bond with annual meetings.
In the few hours during this Saturday course, each of the participants was able to successfully put their previously expressed wish into practice: In a very short time, five finger rings and one bracelet were created, almost all pieces of jewelery decorated with the "magic 7" - the symbol of their long-standing friendship. In return, I was able to explain and sometimes demonstrate all the necessary goldsmithing activities such as sawing, filing, bending, pulling and many other refinements of the goldsmith's trade.
At the end of the course day, which was also extremely pleasant for me, 6 overjoyed course participants took their self-made pieces of jewelery home with them as a lasting memory of their “Vogelsberg Friendship Day 2021”.
